While the media debated whether there was a lack of focus and a coherent movement during the Summer 2008 Milan shows true fashion lovers were too busy enjoying the collections. It is a great time to be a woman!
The Milan runways were full of very feminine and colourful designs that seem effortless to wear, flattering to most body types and very pleasing to the eye. They also emphasised the new femininity. As Donatella Versace pointed out the days of a woman having to dress like a man to be accepted as an equal are over. A woman’s strength comes from being a woman and now she can feel free to look like one.

Many of the individual looks could alternatively be worn as casual daywear, business attire or for after-hours partying.
Dsquared nailed the concept perfectly with their sexy secretary theme with similar inspired collections from Aigner and Blumarine.
Though some women would perhaps prefer go a little further and wear Just Cavalli and John Richmond to the office many workplaces may not be ready for these hot Milan threats.
While designers such as Fendi, Gucci, and Giorgio Armani were difficult to capsulate they seemed to revert to their own roots and looked inward for inspiration.
Shoes and accessories are always an important part of any hot blooded Italian collection. Perhaps in the end it is these items, even more than the fashion that is the real stand out this season.
